Have you suffered from lower back pain, neck pain or knee pain long enough? Have you tried regular essential oils to soothe pain to no success?
I’ve been there. And since I use the doTERRA Deep Blue rub, I can say that it works! And it’s super effective. It’s the single best essential oil for back pain.
Today, I’m going to reveal the Deep Blue’s benefits and downsides in an honest doTERRA Deep Blue reviews.
Stay tuned, here we go.
You’ll definitely like these
- Great for a good number of ailments
- Reasonably priced
- Need only 2-3 drops to get its effect
But you won’t like these
- May cause skin irritations when not diluted
- Can’t be sure if it’s really organic
What is doTERRA Deep Blue used for?
The Deep Blue blend is known for its powerful soothing and pain relief effect. It comes in either an Oil blend, a Rub cream or a Roll-on stick. In this review the prospect will be the 5ml Oil blend.
Like all doTERRA blends, the Deep Blue too combines high quality, organic plant oils. Although this guide speaks of back pain, the Deep Blue blend apparently addresses almost any kind of muscular pain or tension.
We used it for the following illnesses:
- Shoulder pain
- Neck pain
- Upper back pain
- Acute and chronic lower back pain
- Knee pain
Deep Blue’s effect develops literally in minutes.
The most outstanding case was when we rubbed the oil in a friend’s shoulder for his long persisting shoulder pain. Not a single pain relief cream worked for him before. Result? Pain drastically decreased and stayed that way for two days.
doTERRA: Scam or not?
The first question people come to me if I say the word doTERRA is whether it’s scam or not? In short, it’s a no, as you could see in the above example.
Although doTERRA distributes its products in an MLM (Multilevel Marketing) scheme, there’s really nothing bad about their products.
The only bad thing is that doTERRA’s trademarked certification, the CPTG (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade) is not entirely valid. This basically claims that they produce oils explicitly from organic materials, without using pesticides.
Like any organization that claims they use no chemicals, doTERRA can’t be supervised by its end users. But anyone used to organic products will be familiar with this issue.
Been using doTERRA oils for my back pain for years, and haven’t had any kind of skin irritation.
Ingredients a.k.a: What essential oils are good for lower back pain?
As you already know Deep Blue is an oil blend consisting of a number of standalone essential oils. Let me elaborate on each oil’s positive effects on your health:
Wintergreen leaf oil – It’s used to numb your skin. Effective for treating muscular and rheumatic pain.
Camphor bark oil – Used topically to soothe pain and also to reduce itching. Great for treating fungal infections of the toenail, warts and hemorrhoids.
Peppermint leaf oil – If used topically, peppermint oil reduces inflammation and skin irritation.
Ylang ylang flower oil – One of the ingredients of the Deep Blue that makes your parts relax due to a cooling and calming effect.
Helichrysum flower oil – Being a natural antibiotic, antifungal and antimicrobial, the helichrysum boosts circulation and heals nerve endings. This results in an impressive pain relieving effect.
Blue tansy flower oil – When rubbed into the skin, tansy oil works as an organic inflammatory. It soothes your aching parts while protects against viral diseases and controls allergic reactions.
German chamomile flower oil – The main benefit of the chamomile flower oil is relieving cramping or stiff muscles and joint pain. It can also be used to soothe migraines.
Osmanthus flower extract – Great at muscle soothing and pain addressing. Also relieves anxiety and depression.
How to use doTERRA oils and Deep Blue?
Although using doTERRA oils is straightforward, here’s a short how-to:
- Clean your aching lower back with water and soap
- Put a few drops of carrier oil if your skin gets irritated easily (optional)
- Put 2-4 drops of Deep Blue onto the desired area
- Gently massage it into your skin with circular motion. Do this for approx. 5 minutes.
Protip 1: Use a carrier oils to dilute the blend. This way you’ll reduce the chance of getting skin irritation caused by the high concentration of Deep Blue. You should always use a carrier oil if applied to your children’s skin.
Protip 2: Avoid exposing treated parts to direct sunlight. This can cause your skin to develop allergic reactions. Best practice is to knead your aching parts during the evening.
Is this my essential oil for back pain during pregnancy?
In short yes, it can be – without doubt.
However, you shouldn’t forget that you might find Deep Blue’s odor a tad penetrating. We advise to always use a carrier oil to achieve a weaker dilution.
This way you can avoid the unwanted smells and still have an effective pain relief treatment on your lower back.
(My wife has been pregnant twice since we use the Deep Blue oil and she never had any problems with smells. This may differ personally though.)
